The historical movement known as the Rennaissance (rebirth), beginning in 15th century Italy, represented the beginning of the end for the so-called middle ages. It spread a new positive spirit of development in arts, sciences and social politics across Europe, and started the series of conscious philosophical reassessments that have been the fabric of “western” cultures ever since.
